Cenex
Cenex is a not-for-profit research and technology organisation established in 2005 to accelerate the transition to zero emission transport. We are based in the UK and the Netherlands. Since 2019, Cenex has expanded its focus to the maritime sector. We are taking our expertise gained in decarbonising road transport to support the net zero goals of commercial and leisure vessels, portside equipment and infrastructure.
Our work concentrates on various maritime aspects, including vessel duty cycles, electric (including onshore power supplies), bio-methane, synthetic fuels (e-fuels), hydrogen infrastructure, and the integration of transport-logistics and energy systems. Our current projects funded by Innovate UK include; Leading the Charge (Developing marine electric vessel charging standards and hardware concepts), VESSEL (Port and vessel energy optimisation), and PINS (Scalable shore-power and storage solutions for grid-constrained ports).
As part of the recently completed UK Government funded Virtual Bunkering of Electric Vessel Demonstrator project, Cenex joined the Maritime Battery Forum, co-presenting at their annual showcase event on the benefits of electric vessel-to-grid solutions.
Cenex is an Associate Member of MarRI-UK and collaborates across sectors to deliver practical, commercially viable solutions that promote zero-emission maritime operations.
